Cluster Border Configuration
This section will show you how to properly configure a border. Please go over Flyway Cluster Linking's border section for more detail.
In this example, 3 Flyway clusters will be linked together. Note that this only works in real mode.
Setting up Source Cluster - PMC 1
Source cluster is a cluster that provides clock source to all other clusters. There can only be ONE source cluster in the Flyway Linking process.
After opening the configuration:
① Select "System".
② Make sure Emulation Mode is "Off"
③ Change Sync Mode to "Internal PMC Synchronized"; this option indicates the cluster is the source cluster
④ Now select "Layout"
⑤ Then click on "Configure Borders"
⑥ Input "1" in Border ID field and hit enter. The Border ID is limited to [1,4], you can have 4 Borders in total. In this example, Border ID 1 is used
⑦ Left click on a flyway edges to add the edge to the border. The border's shape should reflect the connecting cluster's shape; in this example, the border reflects the shape of the connecting cluster "PMC 2"
⑧ Click on "Confirm Border Configuration" to save the border
⑨ Input "2" in Border ID field and hit enter
⑩ Create a border to reflect the shape of the connecting cluster "PMC 3"
⑪ Click on "Confirm Border Configuration" to save the border
⑫ Click on "Write To PMC" to save the setting.
Notes:
"Clear Border Selection" will clear all the edges in the selected border, in this example, border 2's edges will be cleared
"Clear All Borders" will clear edges in all borders, in this example, both border 1 and 2 will be cleared
Setting up Connecting Cluster - PMC 2
A connecting cluster is a cluster that can receive clock source and passthrough clock source to other connecting cluster. You can have MANY connecting cluster in the system.
After opening the configuration:
① Select "System"
② Make sure Emulation Mode is "Off"
③ Change Sync Mode to "External PMC Synchronized"; this option indicates the cluster is a connecting cluster
④ Now select "Layout"
⑤ Then click on "Configure Borders"
⑥ Input "1" in the Border ID field and hit enter
⑦ Select the Flyway edges that will align with cluster "PMC 1". Note that one of these edges needs to be the "Sync Edge" to receive clock from source cluster. Sync edge can be selected by double clicking on an edge, and it will turn red in PMT to reflect that. The "Sync Edge" can be any edge in the border.
⑧ Click on "Confirm Border Configuration" to save the border
⑨ Click on "Write To PMC" to save the edge configuration
Setting up Connecting Cluster - PMC 3
Repeat the steps for setting up connecting cluster "PMC 2" to setup connecting cluster "PMC 3"
